A Doppelganger (German for "Doublewalker") is a shadow of each person.  It is not an ordinary shadow that comes and goes depending on the light.  The doppelganger is always with its owner. It is invisible and it stays directly behind him or her so that one is never without a sympathetic companion.  It imitates its owner’s actions, voice and expressions precisely and swiftly.  No matter how fast you turn around you still will not be able to see him because he will be behind you.  Some animals can see a person’s doppelganger but it is never reflected in a mirror or other surface so its owner will never see him.  Some doppelgangers are mischievous or even malicious.  They are quite capable of acting on their own and when one does or says something foreign to his nature, it’s generally because his doppelganger has spurred him on to it.
